RULES AND REGULATIONS - CATEGORY IV (Std VIII, Std IX and Std X)
Events 1-2. Elocution [Individual Event](English and Marathi) ( Dur : 3 min )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants in each group. Each participant will
have to fill a separate entry form/s. Each speaker will be allowed to speak for a maximum of three minutes. Participants can choose the topic of their own choice
Event 3. Hand Writing [Individual Event](English) ( Dur : 15 min )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants in each group. Each participant will
have to fill a separate entry form/s. The total duration will be fifteen minutes. Content will be given by the organizers. Other materials, such as pen, pencil etc., should be arranged by
the participants themselves. No participant is allowed to carry any written or printed material at the time of
competition.
Event 4. Essay Competition [Individual Event](English)( Dur : 30 min )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants in each group. Each participant will
have to fill a separate entry form/s.The panel of judges will give the topic. The total duration will be
30minutes, during which the participant shall write his /her essay in English under the
supervision of the officials. The Organizers will provide writing material. Other materials such as pen,
pencil etc., should be arranged by the participants themselves. No participant is allowed to carry any
written or printed material at the time of competition.
Events 5-6. Story telling Competition - [Individual Event](English and Marathi) ( Dur : 3 min )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants in each group. Each participant will
have to fill a separate entry form/s. The total
duration will be three minutes, during which the participant shall tell his/her story in the chosen
language under the supervision of the officials. No participant is allowed to carry any written or printed
material at the time of the competition.
Event 7. Spell Wiz ( First round 20 min + Final round )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants in each group. Each participant will
have to fill a separate entry form/s.
1. Format: The spelling wiz is conducted in rounds. Each speller remaining in the spelling wiz at the start
of a round spells one word in each round. The pronouncer will spell words from speller's Std./ Grade level
for 4 rounds then proceed to the next Std./Grade level for 4 rounds and continue to move up grade levels as
needed until a champion emerges.
2. Word list: Standard Oxford English words according to the respective Std./Grades and higher will be
carefully chosen by the Event Panel. In the case that there is a spelling standoff, official may use words
from an advanced grade word list.
3. Special needs: The Event Panel will strive to provide accommodation for spellers who have physical
challenges. All requests to accommodate special needs involving sight, hearing, speech, or movement
should be directed to event officials well in advance of the spelling wiz date. The judges have
discretionary power to amend oral and/or written spelling requirements on a case-by-case basis for
spellers with diagnosed medical conditions involving sight, hearing, speech, or movement impairment.
4. Pronouncer's role: The pronouncer strives to pronounce words according to the word lists and Oxford
Dictionary.
1) Homonyms: If a word with the same pronunciation has more than one meaning, the pronouncer
indicates which word is to be spelled by defining the word.
2) Speller's requests: The pronouncer responds to the speller's requests for a definition sentence or
alternate pronunciation. When presented with requests for alternate pronunciations, the pronouncer or
an aide to the pronouncer checks for
alternate pronunciations in the Oxford Dictionary. The pronouncer does not entertain root word questions
or requests for alternate definitions.
3)Pronouncer's sense of helpfulness: The pronouncer may offer word information—without the speller
having requested the information—if the pronouncer senses that the information is helpful.
5. Judges' role: The judges uphold the rules and determine whether or not the words are spelt correctly.
They are in complete control of the competition, and their decision is final on all questions, procedures and
course of the Spell Wiz. Parental interruptions will be subject to their child's disqualification.
6. Interaction with the speller: Because seeing the speller's lip movement may be critical in detecting
misunderstandings or wrong spellings, the judges encourage spellers to face them when they pronounce
and spell the word.
7. Notice of rules: The judges ensure that all spellers and audience members are given an opportunity to
receive a complete copy of the rules prior to the start of the spelling wiz.
8. Misunderstandings: The judges participate in the exchange of the information between the speller and
pronouncer if they feel that clarification is needed. Also, the judges listen carefully to the speller's
pronunciation of the word; and, if they sense that the speller has misunderstood the word, the judges work
with the speller and pronouncer until they are satisfied that reasonable attempts have been made to assist
the speller in understanding the word. While the judges are responsible for attempting to detect a speller's
misunderstanding, it is sometimes impossible to detect a misunderstanding until a spelling error has been
made: The judges are not responsible for the speller's misunderstanding.
9.Pronouncer's errors: If the judges feel that the pronouncer's pronunciation does not match the correct
word pronunciation, the judges direct the pronouncer to correct the error as soon as it is detected.
10. Disqualifications for reasons other than clear misspelling:
The judges will disqualify a speller (1) who refuses a request to start spelling; (2) who does not approach
the microphone when it is time to receive the word; (3) who does not comply with the eligibility
requirements; (4) who engages in cheating or unsportsmanlike conduct; (5) who, in the process of spelling
a word starts over and alters the letters or sequence of letters from those first uttered; (6) who, in the
process of spelling, utters unintelligible or nonsense sounds; (7) for failing to spell a word with correct
punctuation (ie, hyphens & apostrophes; or (8) who's parents harass or interrupt the Judges/or Pronouncer.
Speller activities that do not merit disqualification: The judges may not disqualify a speller (1) for failing
to pronounce the word either before or after spelling it, (2) forasking a question, or (3) for noting or failing
to note the capitalization of a word.
11. Speller's role: The speller makes an effort to face the judges and pronounce the word for the judges
before spelling it and after spelling it. The speller while facing the judges makes an effort to utter each
letter distinctly and with sufficient volume to be understood by the judges. The speller may ask the
pronouncer to say the word again, define it, use it in a sentence, and/or provide an alternate
pronunciation(s). Misunderstandings: The speller is responsible for any misunderstanding
of the word unless (1) the pronouncer never provided a correct pronunciation; (2) the pronouncer provided
incorrect information regarding the definition; or (3) the speller correctly spelled a homonym of the word
and the pronouncer failed to either offer a definition or distinguish the homonyms.
12. Correction of a misspelling: The pronouncer and judges will not ask the speller to correct another
speller's misspelling, even in end-of-bee circumstances.
13. Misspelling: Upon incorrectly spelling a word, the speller immediately drops out of the competition,
except asprovided in Rule 10.
14. End-of-wiz procedure:
If all spellers in a round misspell: If none of the spellers remaining in the spelling bee at the start of a round
spells a word correctly during that round, all remain in the competition and a new round begins.
If only one speller in a round spells correctly: If only one speller spells correctly in a round, a new oneword round begins and the speller is given an opportunity to spell the next word on the list (anticipated
championship word). If the speller succeeds in correctly spelling the anticipated championship word in
this one-word round, the speller is declared the champion. Example: In Round 12 there are four spellers.
Spellers 1 and 2 misspell. Speller 3 spells correctly. Speller 4 misspells. So, Speller 3 is the only speller in
the round to spell correctly. Speller 3 begins Round 13—a one-word round—and is offered the anticipated
championship word. Speller 3 correctly spells the anticipated championship word and is declared
champion. Example: Two spellers spell in Round 10. Speller 1 misspells. Speller 2 spells correctly. Speller 2 begins Round
11—a one-word round—and is offered the anticipated championship word. Speller 2 correctly spells the
anticipated championship word and is declared champion. Example: Two spellers spell in Round 16.
Speller 1 spells correctly. Speller 2 misspells. Speller 1 begins Round 17—a one-word round—and is
offered the anticipated championship word. Speller 1 correctly spells the anticipated championship word
and is declared champion.

Example: Three spellers remain. Speller 1 misspells. Speller 2 misspells. Speller 3 spells correctly and
rd nd then spellschampionship word correctly to win. Speller 1 than becomes 3 place and speller 2 becomes 2
place.
VERY IMPORTANT: If a speller misspells the anticipated championship word in a one-word round: A
new roundbegins with ALL the spellers who spelled (correctly and incorrectly) in the previous round.
These spellers spell in theiroriginal order. Example: In Round 8 there are three spellers. Speller 1 spells
correctly and Spellers 2 and 3 misspell. Round 9—a oneword round—begins, and Speller 1 is offered the
anticipated championship word. Speller 1 misspells the anticipated championship word. Round 10 begins
and includes Spellers 1, 2, and 3. The rules prescribe that spellers 1, 2, and 3 spell in their original order; so
Speller 1 gets the next word on the list even though Speller 1 misspelled the previous word on the list.
Round 10 is not complete until all three spellers have spelled. There shall be a separate judge designated to
track the progress of spellers throughout the rounds to avoid any end of wiz confusion.
Event 8. Current Affairs Quiz [Individual Event] (English) ( Dur : 15 min + Final Round )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants in each group. Each participant will
have to fill a separate entry form/s. There will be a written preliminary round in English and
maximum six teams will be selected on merit for the final round. Total Fifteen [15] minutes will be given
to solve the objective type of questions. The final will be oral and may include audio-visual questions. The
specific rules for the final round, regarding the evaluation system, time to replay a particular question and
the type of rounds shall be announced by the quiz master before the commencement of the competition.
Event 9. Debate (Individual Event) (English)
In this parliamentary debate, we'll have four constructive speeches followed by one rebuttal from each group (i.e - 4
participants in each team) To maintain a structured debate, a bell will sound after two minutes of each constructive
speech (Seniors) (for juniors after 11/2 minute) to indicate the halfway point. And, to ensure fairness and adherence to
time limits, we'll switch off the microphone of the speaker after three minutes for seniors and 2 1/2 mins for juniors.
Speaking beyond the bell may attract negative marking at the discretion of the judges. The debaters will be judged on
the basis of Content of Speech, Language and Fluency, Logic and Reasoning, and Rebuttal. There is no provision for
referring to any written material whatsoever while speaking. Marks may be deducted for using any reference material to
speak. Participants should be in their school uniform and must carry their school ID, failure of which may lead to
disqualification. The results will be declared immediately after the competition. The decision of the judges will be
final and binding to all participants.
Event 10. Group Discussion (Individual Event)(English)
Each participating school can depute as many student participants. All individual participants registered
with Fest shall be randomly placed in a group of 10 members each. The top three winners within each
Group Discussion shall proceed for the finals. Each participant will be allowed to speak for a maximum of
1 min at a particular intervention and can make a maximum of three interventions throughout the group
discussion. The moderator will ensure everyone gets an opportunity to speak. The Group discussion shall
not exceed 30minutes. Participants will be judged on the content of their points, relevance to the topic, and
diverse perspectives displayed. They shall also be judged on their etiquette of speech. Practices such as
interrupting the other participant in the middle of the speech or passing condescending remarks will attract
negative marking. Polite but active participation will be encouraged. Topics will be given by the event head a week in advance.
Event 11. Indian Classical Dance [Individual Event] ( Dur : 7 min )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants in each group. Each participant will
have to fill a separate entry form/s. Each participating school can depute as many student participants
performingin any of the styles of Indian classical dance from the following namely: Bharathanatyam,
Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Mohini Attam, Manipuri. The total duration of performance shall not
exceed seven minutes. The time computation shall start as soon as music/announcement starts or curtain
is fully open, whichever is earlier. Three copies of a brief note on the description of the dance story
involved in the accompanying song, if any, with its meaning must be submitted either in Marathi or in
English at the time of registration on the day of competition. Maximum of four accompanists will be
allowed which include their Guru/teacher, singers, instrumentalists, light curtain operators etc. Live
accompaniment will be given due credit.
Event 12. Indian Classical Vocal (Individual) ( Dur : 5 min )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants in each group. Each participant will
have to fill a separate entry form/s. Each participating school can depute as many student participants, in
Hindustani or Karnatic style. The duration of the performance shall not exceed five minutes. The
time computation shall start immediately after the final announcement by the organizer/s. Maximum of
two accompanists will be allowed. The singer may use an instrument such as Tanpura, Electronic Tanpura,
Violin or Swarmandal. Film songs based on Classical style are not allowed under this competition.Three
copies of the details regarding Raag, Taal and Bandish/kriti written in Marathi or English, must be
submitted at the time of registration on the day of the competition.
Event 13. Indian Classical Instrumental [Individual] [Percussion/Taalvadya] ( Dur : 5 min )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants in each group. Each participant will
have to fill a separate entry form/s. Each participating school can depute as many student participants in
Hindustani or Karnatic style. The duration of the performance shall not exceed five minutes. The
time computation shall start immediately after the final announcement by the organizer/s, hence, the
participants are advised to tune their instruments will in advance. Only one accompanist shall be allowed.
Event 14. Western Classical Instrumental (string/ wind instruments) ( Dur : 5 min )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants in each group. Each participant will
have to fill a separate entry form/s. Each participating school can depute as many student participants in
Western style. The duration of the performance shall not exceed five minutes. The time computation
shall start immediately after the final announcement by the organizer/s, hence, the participants are advised
to tune their instruments well in advance.
Event 15. Mimicry (Individual event) ( Dur : 3 min )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants in each group. Each participant will
have to fill a separate entry form/s. Each participating school can depute as many student participants.
Duration of the performance shall not exceed 3 minutes. The time computation shall start immediately
after final announcement by the organizer/s. Violation of time limit will disqualify the participant.
Mimicry event can be done in any regional language in India, or the sound of machines and speeches of
well-known personalities. Props, Costumes and make-up will be allowed. At the time of registration, the
said character the participant is going to imitate should be specified and handed over at the counter. No
declaration of character on stage is allowed.
Event 16. Mono Acting [Individual Event] ( Dur : 4 min )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants in each group. Each participant will
have to fill a separate entry form/s. Each participating school can depute as many student participants.
Duration of the performance shall not exceed 4 minutes. The time shall be computed as soon as the
performance starts. Three copies of script with an explanatory note on the theme either in English, Hindi or Marathi language must be submitted at the time of registration on the day of competition. Costumes/makeup is allowed. However, only acting skills will be adjudged for the prize.
Event 17. Drawing Competition ( Dur : 45 min )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants in each group. Each participant will
have to fill a separate entry form/s. Each participating school can depute as many student participants.
The participants are required to draw & paint on the subject given by the panel of judges, at the time of
competition. The total duration for completing the drawing shall not exceed forty-five minutes. The size
of the paper shall be half imperial size drawing paper i.e. 22 inches in length and 15 inches in breadth.
Painting should be done either in watercolours or in poster colours only. Drawing paper will be provided
by the Organizers. Other materials should be arranged by the participants themselves.
Event 18. Craft Competition ( Dur : 45 min )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants. Each participant will have to fill a
separate entry form/s. The participants are required to create on the subject of their choice, at the time of
competition. The total duration for completing the craft shall not exceed forty-five minutes. Craft material
should be arranged by the participants themselves.
Event 19. Greeting Card Competition ( Dur : 45 min )
Each participating school can depute as many student participants in each group. Each participant will
have to fill a separate entry form/s. The participants are required to create on the subject of their choice, at
the time of competition. The total duration for completing the greeting card shall not exceed forty-five minutes.

Python Coding Competition Rules
• Individual student as to do assignment

• Assignment must be developed using IDLE(Python 3.9 64 bit)
• Assignment should be typed in notepad editor

Event 21. Ethical Hacking ( Dur : 40 min )
It is a competition based on Ethical Hacking & Web Pentesting. It’s an INDIVIDUAL Event.
It will consist of two varying categories.
Event: Web Pentesting
● Tasks on networking and the Web will be given along with the web interface
● Participants will have 25 minutes to accomplish the task and generate a report for the same
● The report has to be presented in 5 minutes along with the methodology followed.
● The winner will be chosen on the ground of their task completion and reporting.
(Event duration 40 min)
Event 22. Computer typing ( Dur : 20 min )
Computer Typing is one round event. A photo of multilingual passage will be given to the participants that they have to type in a limited time period of 20 min. The participant with fewer typing mistakes will be the winner. No other tab other than notepad and photos should be opened, if anyone tries to open any other tab then he/she will be disqualified
Event 23. T-Shirt Painting (Topic: Chandrayaan) ( Dur : 45 min )
Participants have to bring their own materials.
T-shirts should be brought by the participants.
Use of any type of reference materials including gadgets during the event is prohibited and will lead to disqualification.
The design should reflect theme ‘Chandrayyan’
Event 24. Fashion Parade (Theme: Climate Change) ( Dur : 5 min )
The walk should be choreographed within the allotted time.
Vulgarity or profanity in any form will lead to disqualification.
Background music should be related to the theme allotted.
The attire and music should reflect the theme ‘Climate Change’

Kindly be present at the venue 30 minutes before your event. If two events are happening at the same time and you wish to participate in both, you're welcome to do so, the student can finish one event and then move on to the next.
